Improvements in fastener product safety and quality standards forecast following Las Vegas Junker Test machine sales

Vibrationmaster’s objective to assist with product quality and safety standard improvements in the fastener sector received a boost following multiple orders for new machines at the National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo.

Esbjerg, Denmark – Wednesday 24th October 2012: Product safety and quality, including greater compliance with DIN 25201, received a boost in October. Fastener manufacturers and distributors who witnessed live demonstrations of two J100 Junker Test bench demonstrators placed orders for new machines at the National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo in Las Vegas. Vibrationmaster received orders for the J100 demonstrator and its full-sized versions – the J400 and J600 Junker Test benches, which are designed to vibration test fasteners to DIN 25201 and simulate performance under extreme vibration conditions.

“Our objectives to help fastener manufacturers, distributors and the whole sector improve product safety and quality were significantly advanced in Las Vegas,” explains Vibrationmaster CEO Morten Schiff. “Actually witnessing the performance of their fasteners and locking elements in real time under extreme vibration conditions is one of the key features that convinced visitors to order machines. Of course they also need to meet their own customers’ demands to vibration test products to DIN 25201, which Vibrationmaster’s Junker Test benches all do.”

Schiff continues: “We showed fastener manufacturers how nuts and bolts self-loosened as they underwent vibration testing. DIN 25201 requires fasteners and locking elements to be vibration tested under circumstances that closely match real operating conditions. And that’s key, because manufacturers’ fasteners and locking elements are used to improve safety and quality in critical applications in sectors such as aerospace, defence, energy and transport. Self-loosening fastener behaviour in a wind turbine, aircraft or automobile can result in catastrophic component failure.”

Designed to vibration test fasteners in the range of M5 – M16 ISO Metric and #10 – 5/8 in UTS to DIN 25201, the J400 Junker Test bench is ideal for fastener manufacturers creating products for the automotive sector, as well as for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). For manufacturers with broader product ranges, the larger J600 allows testing of M5 – M30 ISO Metric and #10 – 1 1/8 in UTS.

Schiff concludes: “Las Vegas was a perfect opportunity for us to enhance the overall level of safety and quality knowledge in the fastener sector. We’re looking forward to meeting customers to pursue those aims at Fastener Fair Stuttgart in February 2013.”
